The room, existing floor construction and available drainage routes are assessed before work begins. A wetroom is only recommended where the necessary drainage and floor falls can be created without weakening or damaging the structure. The layout is then planned around the available space and the customer’s requirements.

The floor is opened to confirm the direction of the joists, the available depth and a suitable route for the waste pipework. The area beneath the wetroom tray is reinforced before the tray is securely installed, providing the correct falls towards the drain. If level access cannot be achieved safely, the available alternatives are discussed before work continues.

Walls and surrounding floor areas are carefully assessed before finishing work begins. Walls are repaired, reinforced, boarded or plastered where required. Floors are stabilised and levelled as necessary to create firm, even surfaces around the installed wetroom tray.

The wetroom tray, entire floor and required wall areas are waterproofed using a suitable tanking system. Corners, joints, the drain connection and areas around pipework are carefully sealed to create a continuous watertight barrier before tiling begins.

Required electrical work can be coordinated for lighting, extractor fans, illuminated mirrors, shaver points and electric underfloor heating. The position of each fitting is planned to suit the wetroom layout and the relevant electrical safety zones.

Tile layouts are planned around the wetroom tray and drain, with careful attention to alignment, cuts, trims and grout colour. Floor tiles are fitted to maintain the correct falls and achieve a neat finish around the drain. The shower screen, sanitaryware, bathroom furniture and agreed fittings are securely installed in their planned positions.

Final joints and edges are finished with sanitary silicone sealant, and any remaining finishing details are completed. The wetroom is then cleaned and reviewed with the customer at handover.
