The condition, level and stability of the existing walls and floors are assessed before work begins. Loose or damaged finishes are removed, and surfaces are repaired, reinforced, boarded, plastered or levelled where required. Once ready, surfaces are cleaned and treated with a suitable primer or grit primer where necessary to create a solid base for tiling.

Where tiling forms part of a shower area, around a bath or within another wet area, the required surfaces are waterproofed using a suitable tanking system. Corners and joints are carefully sealed before tiling begins.

Before fitting begins, the layout is measured and set out to establish the starting points, joint positions and finished cuts. Tile size, room dimensions, visible edges and key features are considered to create a balanced finish and avoid unnecessary narrow cuts.

Wall tiles are fitted using an adhesive suitable for the tile type and prepared surface. Alignment, levels and joint spacing are checked throughout, with accurate cuts made around corners, windows, sockets and other features. Where included, niches are carefully set out and tiled, with exposed edges finished using the agreed trims.

Timber subfloors are assessed, reinforced where necessary and securely overboarded with suitable tile backer boards. Over screeded floors, a decoupling membrane is installed where required to reduce movement being transferred to the tiled finish. Floor tiles are then fitted with careful attention to alignment, levels, joint spacing and accurate cuts around fixed features.

Once the tile adhesive has cured, the joints are filled using the agreed grout colour and the tiled surfaces are cleaned. Internal corners and junctions around baths, shower trays, sanitaryware and other fixed features are finished with suitable silicone sealant where required.

The completed tiled surfaces are inspected and cleaned, with grout joints, silicone sealant and finishing details checked. The finished work is then reviewed with the customer at handover.
